As the name suggests, I’m now retired from what might be called “normal” work but have no desire to give up and vegetate.
After decades in the workplace, both employed and self employed, I sought a flexible way to boost my retirement funds without a strict schedule. Affiliate marketing is perfect—it lets me promote products I love and make an income from home or anywhere else I choose.
I also wanted a hobby that I could do from home, at a time that I choose for myself and something that would hold my interest for an extended time. After all, there’s no point starting something only to give up if you find that you’re not interested in it, is there?
Like a lot of places in the western world, so called “state” pensions are pretty poor and unless you have a substantial private pension then be prepared to live somewhere between broke and the breadline! So the need to supplement my own measly “pension” brings me to where I am now.
In looking to address both parts of my retirement hobby, (both interesting and income generating), I’ve had a look around online and checked out what can be done. For me, what fits the bill more than anything else is Affiliate Marketing.
Simply put, I put buyers in touch with sellers who pay me a commission every time somebody then buys whatever the seller is selling. All of this is done online (via a variety of methods) and in complete anonymity.
It can be done using a desk top type computer, a laptop or tablet or even from a mobile type cell-phone. In fact, from wherever you can get online and by using whatever connected device you have.
This method is ideal for retirees because it offers flexibility, low to zero start-up costs, and, potentially, passive income. The amount you can make is also unlimited meaning you can decide the level of income you desire and work towards it over a period of time.
If you’re not yet retired, you can plan ahead and make sure when the time comes you don’t have to rely on whatever retirement pot you have that might have taken decades to get together.
I work in my own time, choose products and services I really like, and make money even while I’m out enjoying life. It’s also intellectually stimulating and helps keep me connected to the digital world.
Though it takes a little time to learn, the potential income can greatly enhance your retirement lifestyle. It can offer financial security and the freedom to indulge in hobbies or travel.
